Funny Friday: Donovan and other funny Soccer Ads

Earlier this year, the US Men’s National Team did something that sounded like a joke: they left Landon Donovan off of the 23 man World Cup squad. Avid soccer fans were upset that the Captain wouldn’t be making the trip down to Brazil; non-soccer fans were upset because the only US soccer player they had ever heard of wasn’t competing, so they literally had nothing to say if the World Cup came up in passing conversation. (Some Jimmy Kimmel fans never got the news and consequently sounded like big fat liars on national television).

At least Donovan was able to make light of the disappointing roster decision with some funny ads. And not long after the World Cup, Donovan dropped a hilarious bomb of his own: the best American to ever play the beautiful game would retire at the end of the MLS season. I still don’t get the joke, Donovan, but whatever.

Tonight Donovan will play his last game for the USMNT. In honor of the #LegenD, we’re featuring the most hilarious soccer ads for today’s Funny Friday (some with Donovan, some without).
